The Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the Uited Nations Office in Geneva in cooperation with the Institute for International and Development Studies and the Diplomatic Club of Geneva organized a public debate on "Two-Speed Europe: New East-West Division". The President (2012-2017) Rosen Plevneliev delivered a keynote address and took part in a discussion with Mrs. Ulrike Lunachek from Austria, former Vice-President of the European Parliament and Professor Till van Raden, Head of the European Studies Unit of the University in Montreal, Canada. A number of ambassadors, heads of international organizations, representatives of the Bulgarian community and the academic community took part at the forum. Rosen Plevneliev is the first Bulgarian head of state to receive such invitation.
Earlier in the day, President Plevneliev visited the Geneva Center for Security Policy, where he had a lecture on "Challenging long-term policy planning and interaction with the private sector." The event was held within the framework of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
