President (2012 - 2017) Rosen Plevneliev, Prime Minister (2001-2005) Simeon Saxe-Coburg Gotha and Minister of Foreign Affairs (2001-2005) Solomon Passy participated in a meeting with European journalists in Sofia Tech Park. Over 50 representatives of leading European media, covering the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the European Union, took part in the discussion. Host of the event was Junior Achievement Bulgaria, and moderator was Maxim Behar.
Rosen Plevneliev and Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha are part of a Supreme Political Consultative Board, formed by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov to support the Bulgarian presidency. Together with Solomon Passy they answered questions related to the achievements of Bulgaria as an EU member during the last 11 years, the challenges and investments in ICT and start-ups and the development of new technologies in the country.
President Plevneliev outlined the role of Bulgaria in the Balkans as a good friend and neighbor of all - "We strive for peace in the region, to put aside old enmities. We work for connectivity in the region ... In the field of ICT, Bulgaria has been one of the leading countries in computer industry and we are now striving to focus on this industry. Bulgaria is looking ahead" - he added.
