President Rosen Plevneliev and Chairman of Solutions for the Future Foundation participated in the opening of the first digital (un)conference in Bulgaria (The Digital Unconference 1.0).
The event, attended by more than 1000 participants, was held in Sofia Tech Park and was organized with the partnership of Solutions for the Future Foundation. The forum was opened by President Rosen Plevneliev, Deputy Prime Minister Lilyana Pavlova and the Chair of the State e-Government Agency Rosen Zhelyazkov. A special guest was also the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel, who outlined the priorities of Bulgaria and the European Union in the context of the digital revolution. The aim of the event was to create a platform where politicians, representatives of leading technology companies and non-governmental organizations can discuss the European digital vision during the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council as well as the challenges for the European economy in the era of digitalisation.
The topics in the various panels were the digital single market, e-government, e-health, e-education, digital media, finance and others. Unlike traditional conferences, the unconference is an interactive format that aims to drive a more informal discussion where every attendee can take part. The unconference sessions were summed up in short extracts, which were shared with EU Commissioner Maria Gabriel with the idea to contribute to the digital policy optimization.
